even though that stack of bills is sometimes hard to bear
Happy is the man who’s kids mostly behave
And save him from the trouble of an early grave

Happy is the man who sees the forest for the trees
And every little problem doesn’t bring him to his knees
Happy is the man who still remembers to play
even though at work he had a terrible day

Happy is the man who finds some good news in the bad
Doesn’t spend his whole life being bitter or sad
Happy is the man who has some friend who are true
and heads over to see them sometimes right out of the blue

Happy is the man who picks a guitar now and then
plays a banjo mandolin or fiddle when he can
Happy is the man who writes a happy song or two
That makes you tap your toes or even features a kazoo

Happy is the man who knows to quit while he’s ahead
before he goes too long and beats that horse until it’s dead
Happy is the man who knows it’s time for him to go
and takes a graceful bow at the end of the show
