about

Rochelle and I saw Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson at the Ark before we were a "duo". Since then we've covered quite a few of their tunes. This was one of our first covers, but for awhile we couldn't get it "right". After leaving it alone for a few months we came back to it. We came up with a visual of just sitting on a front porch swing lazily picking and singing this song. Seemed to work and we've been performing it ever since. Thanks Kasey and Shane for writing such a great song and letting us put it on our record! - J

lyrics

If you don't see me, caught in your wire
If you don't hear me, outside your door
If all this waiting, just leaves me wanting
You still would be, the sweetest waste of time

If I could learn
The ways of your mind
If I could burn
A hole in your cold heart
Every time,
I called your name

If you don't need me, when you get lonely
If you don't want me, to call your own
If all this hoping, just leaves me hurting
You still would be the sweetest waste of time

If you could find
A way through the dark
If you could shine
A light on my cold heart
Every time,
I lost my way

If you don't see me, caught in your wire
If you don't hear me, outside your door
If all this wanting, just leaves me waiting
You still would be the sweetest waste of time
You still would be the sweetest waste of time

The Potter's Field Ann Arbor, Michigan

"The Potter's Field defies easy description -- Harmoniously haunting, deceptively simple, painting portraits of real life on the canvas of the listeners' hearts and minds with sepia undertones of edgy eeriness, poignant lyrics and bright splashes of toe-tapping energy." ... more
